Robin Silk

Robin Silk studied at London and Cambridge Universities and, after a short career in the City of London, he took up his first teaching post in Cambridge, before becoming a Boarding Housemaster in Edinburgh.  He is a history graduate and having completed an MBA he has taught History, Business Studies, Global Perspectives and Theory of Knowledge to A Level and IB Diploma.  He has also coached rugby, hockey and cricket and has been a climbing activity and outdoor pursuits instructor. As a mountain leader for the last 25 years, he has organised and led school mountain and jungle expeditions across the world.   For the last 16 years, Robin has been leading and setting up schools in Europe, South America, Africa and the Middle East.

Robin has been married to Asli for 25 years and has two adult daughters.  He has always enjoyed sport and continues to cycle and swim, alongside going on the occasional trip to the gym.  He enjoys reading and exploring the wonderful world that we live in (at last count he had travelled to 115 countries).  He is passionate about the kind of values-based, holistic education that is espoused by King’s School Canterbury, and sees great merit in fusing this educational model with the diverse cultures of the world.  The opportunity to do this in Cambodia, with its friendly people, can-do attitude and rich ancient culture is especially enticing.  The prospect of building on the traditions of one of the oldest schools in the world in a growing nation, fusing the best of the old with the best of the new, is one that he is hugely excited about.  He looks forward to getting to know all the school community- students, staff and parents alongside spreading King’s School’s name far and wide.
