Pre-Prep School

Pupils will start their journey at King’s School, Canterbury, Vattanacville (KSV) in Pre-Prep. Our experienced and qualified teachers will offer an environment where pupils can thrive personally and academically, and develop their individual strengths. We want our pupils to develop strong relationships, be confident and independent in their learning. This will take place in a high quality environment, building on group research and critical thinking skills that will mature as pupils make their transitions through school.

In Pre-nursery, nursery and Reception classes, we will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that offers a holistic approach in the 7 areas of learning:

Prime areas: personal, social and emotional development, physical development and communication and language

Specific areas: literacy, maths, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design.

In years 1 and 2, we will follow the English National Curriculum, with elements from the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), with a topic based approach to learning. Throughout these topics, with a focus on history, science, geography, biology, mathematical and critical thinking, and literacy, pupils will develop cross-subject knowledge and further their learning in an exciting and positive environment.

Pupils extend their knowledge with our specialist teachers in music, art and physical education. Pupils with English as an additional language (EAL) will be supported by our Individualised Learning Teacher. Khmer lessons will be delivered weekly to all year groups by qualified teachers based on the Cambodian national curriculum, extended to an international environment.
