Barbara Faria

Barbara has been working in education for 22 years. She has worked in London for 17 years in outstanding schools and children’s centres. Barbara has taught mainly in the Early Years and KS1 and managed a Children’s Centre within a primary school for 7 years. Barbara has worked in private settings in Portugal, in Portuguese and British Schools, in the first years of her career. Previous to Cambodia, Barbara was the Head of Early Years in a very successful school in China for 3 years.

Barbara completed her BA in Early Years Education in Portugal, after attending 2 previous degrees in Law and International Relations. Despite not completing them, they offered her a wealth of knowledge and a desire for academic research. This has led to completing an MA in Early Years Education at the Institute of Education, UCL, in London, and participating in numerous studies about Early Years Education. Barbara is looking forward to doing a PhD in the future and to continue her research journey in the next couple of years.

Barbara speaks four languages fluently (including her native Portuguese); and reads and speaks in other two languages in uncomplicated terms. Barbara enjoys travelling and visiting botanic gardens all over the world, something her son has instilled in her. Barbara has an adult son, who is a professional chef and who loves travelling around the world with her. Barbara enjoys buying art, antiques and furniture and is always looking for new markets and hidden shops with bargains. Barbara swims most days, and enjoys cycling, climbing mountains (and rocks) and Pilates. Barbara loves independent cinema and works as script editor as a hobby. She loves reading books and always travels with a lot of weight, as she carries several books with her.
