Richard Middleton
Year 3&4 Teacher
Richard Middleton studied at The University of Gloucestershire in England as a mature student and received a Bachelor of Education (Bed) Degree with a specialization in Physical Education (PE). Before becoming a teacher, Richard enjoyed gaining valuable life experience by working in several different professions including being a professional chef and also working as a landscape gardener. Upon becoming a teacher Richard worked for nine years at an OFSTED rated Outstanding Junior School in the UK. During this time he spent several years as a class teacher and also worked as a PE specialist. He was also responsible for organizing, planning and running all school sports teams and outdoor adventure activities including residential trips. Richard has a particular talent and love for telling stories. Upon deciding to teach abroad Richard taught at a school in Mwanza City in Tanzania for two years before moving to Cambodia to join the TKSV founding team.
Richard is unmarried and likes to spend his free time playing sport, reading books and going on big and small adventures in order to explore this incredible world in which we live. Whilst living in the UK, Richard spent many years working as a volunteer at his local swimming and water polo club coaching water polo. He also spent a lot of time riding his mountain bike, walking, trekking and camping in the idyllic English countryside. Richard entered the profession because he believes that teaching is one of the few vocations in which we can help make the world a better place and make a difference. By educating the generations of tomorrow to be responsible global citizens with an enthusiasm and love for both learning and life. Richard relishes the opportunity to live and work at The King’s School Vattanville in Cambodia with its rich and diverse culture and incredibly friendly people. To work at a school which has a vision of delivering truly world class education is an incredibly exciting prospect.
