Michael Mallon
Early Years Teacher
Michael Mallon studied at Trinity University Carmarthenshire and received a PGCE in Primary Education in 2009. He taught in various schools across South Wales before working as a teacher at a school in Siem Reap, Cambodia, for 2 years. Michael developed a keen interest and fascination of Cambodia during his first time in the country between 2010 to 2012, learning about its history, culture and language. He then moved to Bangkok, Thailand, and taught at three different international schools for a total of 12 years. He has now returned to Cambodia for a second time to teach at The King’s School Vattanacville. A specialist in early years education, Michael enjoys promoting all aspects of play-based learning and providing the best possible educational experiences for his students.
In his spare time, Michael is a keen fitness enthusiast and is fond of weightlifting, running and trail running. Having completed his first marathon in Siem Reap in 2019, he continues to train and regularly competes in various running events ranging from 10km races to ultra marathons. He is also interested in languages and has a good understanding of both Thai and Khmer. Michael is delighted to be working back in Cambodia in this exciting period of growth and development at an internationally recognised school. He hopes to further promote the school’s mission, values, and be a force of good in the community.
