On Tuesday, November 5th, The King’s School, Vattanacville, was filled with excitement and festive cheer as we celebrated the Water Festival, a major cultural event in Cambodia. The entire school community—students, teachers, and families—came together for a day of fun, learning, and celebration, immersing ourselves in the rich traditions and customs of this important occasion.
The Water Festival, a time to honour Cambodia’s waterways and the beginning of the rainy season, was marked by a series of lively and engaging activities that connected our students to the cultural significance of the festival. We embraced this celebration through traditional crafts, interactive games, and hands-on experiences designed to inspire creativity and foster a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s heritage.
Our secondary students took the lead in telling the story of the Water Festival in three languages: Khmer, English, and Chinese. Their storytelling not only helped our community understand the cultural significance of the festival but also celebrated the diverse languages and backgrounds of our students. It was an enriching experience that allowed everyone to connect with the festival in a deeper and more inclusive way.
Our celebration also featured traditional crafts that allowed students to express their creativity and learn new skills. From making intricate decorations to exploring the meaning behind the symbols of the Water Festival, each activity was an opportunity to appreciate the deep cultural roots of this beloved celebration.
The day was not only about fun and games but also about building lasting memories. It was heartwarming to see the entire community come together, sharing smiles, laughter, and joy, all while strengthening the bonds that make The King’s School, Vattanacville, such a vibrant and inclusive place.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this Water Festival celebration a memorable success. From our students to our dedicated staff and wonderful families, your involvement helped bring this cultural celebration to life. We look forward to many more shared experiences and traditions that unite us as a school community.
Thank you for making the Water Festival such a special day! 🌊💧
