Early Years
The Early Years program at The King’s School, Vattanacville, is designed for children aged 2 to 5, offering a joyful and purposeful introduction to learning. Our interdisciplinary and student-centered approach fosters a love of learning through inquiry-based methods. By engaging with topics of interest, children learn to express their ideas, listen to others, solve problems, and persist with relevant tasks. Recognizing that each child has unique learning styles and progresses at different rates, we work closely with parents to support their individual learning journeys.
Our Early Years unit is a trilingual environment, with each class led by a native English-speaking teacher, a native Khmer-speaking teacher, and a native Mandarin-speaking teacher. This approach ensures that children become proficient and confident in all three languages as they develop.
The Foundation Stage curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which guides the education of children from birth to five years old. The curriculum covers the following areas:
Prime Areas:
- Personal, Social, and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
Specific Areas:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
These seven areas of learning are supported by the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), with staff guiding engaging and stimulating activities to help each child achieve their developmental goals. Our Foundation Stage students benefit from daily Khmer instruction, as well as scheduled lessons in Mandarin, PE, Art, Library, and Music.
